Followers of Islam can be found throughout the world but are mostly concentrated in the Middle East. 23% of the world's population or 1.57 billion people are followers of Islam. Muslims follow the 5 pillars of their religion: Testimony, Prayer, Alms-giving, fasting, and pilgrimage. Icons include the Quran and the crescent moon.

The Muslim faith began in the 6th century in present day Saudi-Arabia. The prophet Muhammed witnessed a vision in which the angel Gabirel chose him through Allah(God) to led a new religion. Muhammed then founded the religion of Islam. Islam has been diffused all over the world, and is considered the world's fastest growing religion. Different sects include Sunni, Shia, and Sufi.

All muslims are called to a pilgrimage to Mecca, the holy city of the Muslim faith, at least once in their life. At this pilgrimage, muslims are to connect to their faith in a deeper way.
